Define transitions between attribute options

Attribute option transitions are set on the Transitions between options tab of the Artifact type attribute editor page.

  1. Go to the Project Tracker administration page.
    1. Click Admin in the CollabNet TeamForge navigation bar.
    2. On the site administration navigation bar, click Integrated App.
    3. Select Project Tracker and click Configure.
  2. To access this tab when defining transitions globally:
    1. Click Artifact types.
    2. Select the desired artifact type to access the Edit global artifact type page.
    3. Select the attribute group containing the attribute for which you wish to define transition rules.
    4. In the Attributes in this group section of the Global attribute group page, select the attribute.
    5. Click the Transition between options tab under the Attribute Options section.
  3. To access this tab when setting transitions at the project level:
    1. In the project, click the Manage artifact types link in the navigation bar.
    2. Click an artifact type under the Artifact types section of the Manage artifact types page.
    3. Select the Attribute group containing the attribute for which you wish to define transition rules.
    4. In the Edit attribute group page select the attribute.
    5. Click the Transitions between options tab.
  4. Use the top section of the tab for defining transition rules for the initial value of the attribute. The bottom section is for defining transition rules for changing values. You can perform the following actions:
    • Use the Select role/view field to choose a role for which you want to set transitions. The default value for this field, All roles, makes the transition rule applicable to all users. Selecting other roles in this field overrides the "all roles" setting for the selected role only. For example, if you wanted to allow only the Project owner to determine the milestone for artifacts, you would set the transition rules to "Hide" all options for the attribute "milestone" for "All roles". You would then select the "Project owner" role in the Select role/view field and set the transition rule for all options to "Show". Now users without the "Project owner" role see the "milestone" attribute, but do not see any of its attribute options.
    • Select Hide or Show from any of the drop down lists to make the option either visible or invisible.
    • Use the Edit transition option in the drop down lists for the attribute options to display the Artifact type workflow page. On this page, you can set the following options:
      • Under the Transition section, retain the current From and To selections or select new values.
      • Click the check box next to any of the attributes under the Attributes in this artifact type section or the User attributes in this artifact type section to make them required. Because artifacts do not have assigned users when they are initially created, user attributes are not shown on the Artifact type workflow page for initial transistions.
      • When finished click Save changes and then Done to return to the Transition between options tab.
