When you define a global artifact type, all tracker administrators on the site can make
that artifact type available for their project members to work with.
-
Go to the Project Tracker administration page.
-
Click Admin in the CollabNet
TeamForge navigation
bar.
-
On the site administration navigation bar, click Integrated
App.
-
Select Project Tracker and click
Configure.
-
Click .
-
Provide a name and description for your artifact type.
Tip: Descriptions help users learn how best to provide
the information you want from them. To maximize your chances of getting useful data,
make your description as informative as you can.
-
Select a value from the namespace drop-down list. You can
associate an artifact type to one of the two default namespace values
(Default and IT to PT conversion), or to a
namespace created during an import of a project template archive.
-
If required, select one or more of the following values:
- Active - Activates the artifact type to be used at the
project level.
- Locked - Prevents the artifact type from being modified at
the project level. By default, this option is enabled. To avoid the artifact type
being set to Locked state, uncheck the checkbox.
- Default - Adds the artifact type to each new project.
- Deleted - Prevents the artifact type from being used at the
project level.
-
Click Save.
-
Add groups of What is a global attribute? as needed.
Note: If you add a new Attribute group in an artifact type, the
namespace associated with the artifact type will automatically be assigned to the Attribute
group.
-
Add namespaces as needed.
Note:
- If you add a new User attribute in an artifact type, you can sort the list of
attributes associated with different namespace by using the Filter This List
drop-down box in the Select User Attribute page.
- If you associate an artifact type belonging to a namespace with an existing or
deleted project, you cannot reassign that artifact type to another namespace.
Note:
- You can choose only one global artifact type at a time.
- If a user in a project sets up a global artifact type that has two attributes with the
same name, but belonging to a different namespace, duplicate field names appear with
their namespaces. For example, if the "Defect" artifact type has an
attribute "Advantage" associated with both the
"Default" and "IT to PT conversion" namespace, then
when a user enters an artifact, the field names will be "Advantage"
and "Advantage (IT to PT conversion)."
