SourceForge Enterprise Edition 4.2 Service Pack 1 features these highlights:
- Project categorization
- This new feature allows site admins to define their own category hierarchy
for organizing projects, and allows project admins to place their projects into
all appropriate categories. A rich interface for browsing, filtering and
searching projects and categories lets users find the projects they are looking
for. Project admins can also select certain file releases to be featured in
their project categorization listings as instantly available downloads, making
it easy to make their software available for reuse.
- Multiple-select date fields and user fields
- New Tracker flex field types: "User" and "Date". Along with single-select,
text entry, and multi-select fields, tracker admins can now add two new field
types to their trackers:
- User: allows the selection of one or more SourceForge users as the value
of the field; a convenient User Picker enables searching for users.
- Date: values can be chosen using a convenient pop-up calendar.
- UI customization with velocity templates
- Certain pages and page components can now be customized on a site-wide
basis, through the modification of a set of templates written in the Velocity
template language. A rich set of APIs allows the easy creation of a rich set of
enhancements. Customers can modify the look and feel of the application, and
implement feature customizations that were not possible previously.
- Improved SCM security
- The communication between the SF application server and remote SCM servers
can now be protected more conveniently via the use of SSL, and shared-secret
authentication. This eliminates the need to protect this data through solutions
such as ssh tunneling.
- URL document type
- In addition to uploading a document file or creating one through direct
text entry, a user can now create a "document" which is simply a URL. This
enables one to apply the benefits of the Document Manager (hierarchical
organization, associations, document reviews etc.) to any external resource that
can be referenced with a URL.
