Can I control which messages get posted to my forum?

If you are the moderator of a discussion forum, you can not only accept or reject posts sent to that forum, but also add users to the trusted users list, letting their posts bypass moderation.

On posting a message to a moderated discussion forum, the message is archived in an unmoderated state until approved by a moderator. However, the messages posted by trusted users do not require the moderator's approval.

The moderators of the discussion receive an email notification that you have posted a message. The email notification contains the URL path to moderate the post.
A moderator can use the web interface to accept or reject posts to the discussion forum.
A moderator can either approve or reject your message.
If the moderator accepts the message, the message status changes to "Accepted" and the message is posted to all the users monitoring the forum.
If the moderator accepts the message and trusts the sender, the message status changes to "Approved and Trusted" and the message is posted to all the users monitoring the forum.
If the moderator rejects the message, he/she can include his/her comments or reasons in the moderation rejection email and the message is removed from the archive.

Unmoderated discussion forums

In an unmoderated discussion forum, messages are posted without being subjected to any screening. A user's ability to post is controlled only by the user's access permissions on the site.

On posting a message to an unmoderated discussion forum, a copy of the message is immediately distributed to all the subscribers of the discussion.

All the normal view and post rules are applicable to unmoderated discussions, except the rules applicable only to moderated discussions.

Changing moderated discussion forums to unmoderated discussion forums

If you disable moderation on a moderated forum, the posts awaiting approval are automatically approved and sent to all the subscribers of the discussion forum.

If a moderated discussion forum does not require posts to be moderated anymore, the moderation feature can be turned off.
You must be a forum administrator to enable/disable moderation.
