Install CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 in a virtual machine

To get the functionality of CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 with the ease of installation and maintenance that comes with VMWare, run CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 in a VMWare player.

The trial and team versions of SourceForge run in an instance of VMWare Player.

CAUTION:
Talk to a CollabNet representative before upgrading to the free three-user trial version of CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 from the free 15-user version of SourceForge Enterprise Edition.
  1. Get VMware Player
    Download and install the free VMware Player from VMware.
  2. Get CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0
    Download the CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 installer from CollabNet.
  3. If you are upgrading to CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0...
    A few extra steps are required for upgrading to the trial or team version of CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 from the free 15-user version of SourceForge Enterprise Edition 4.4 or earlier.
  4. Configure CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0
    After you have installed VMware Player, configure the CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 VMware image.
  5. Start CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 manually
    If you configured CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 to start manually, start it after the SourceForge VMware image finishes booting.
  6. Update user permissions
    After upgrading to CollabNet SourceForgeEnterprise 5.0, you must update users' permissions so they can continue to access applications that are integrated with your site, such as source code repositories.
  7. Run CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 in a local language
  8. Stop CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 manually
    Before exiting VMware Player, stop the CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise 5.0 application server.
