You can work with a Microsoft Office file in its native application and later upload it to TeamForge. Browse and edit the document offline and synchronize it with your TeamForge server when connected. On synchronization, the document is automatically versioned.
Note: This feature requires Microsoft Office versions 2003 or higher. It supports Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio documents.
- In the CollabNet Site Browser window, right-click a Microsoft Office document in a TeamForge document folder, and select Edit Document.
-
Specify whether you would like to lock the document before editing it.
The Lock Document dialog is displayed only if your preference is
set to Ask for each document -- this is the default.
Tip: Preferences are available on the page. You can also set your choice as the preference in the
Lock Document dialog.
If you choose to lock the document,
another user cannot edit it. Another user who wants to edit the document needs to unlock
it using either of these methods:
- The Edit document data option in the Desktop (for which the
user needs to have the permission to steal the lock)
- Another client such as the TeamForge web interface
- Edit the document in the Microsoft Office application and click Save when you are done.
The Update Document dialog appears.
- Provide any comments you may have about this version of the document.
-
If you locked the document, choose whether you want to release the lock.
-
Click Upload.
Your changes are saved and the document is uploaded to your TeamForge site.
Tip: To view the document's version information, select
Properties from its context menu.
If you clicked Cancel to continue working on your document
without uploading it, you will be prompted to upload when you choose to save it.
You can observe your changes in the web browser by double-clicking the document in the
CollabNet Site Browser
.
